Final Impressions – What I Learned

By the end of the trip, I felt like I had gained a much deeper understanding of Irish culture and history than I could have from class alone. Visiting places like the Trinity College Library, the Museum of Literature Ireland, and historic sites around Dublin made the literature we studied feel much more real and connected to physical places. Seeing these locations helped me understand how closely Irish storytelling, history, and national identity are tied together.

Traveling outside of Dublin also gave me a broader perspective of Ireland. Visiting Galway and taking a trip to Inis Mór allowed me to experience landscapes and communities that felt very different from the capital city. The historic sites, traditional music sessions, and places like Bunratty Castle and Folk Park helped show how Irish culture and traditions are still preserved and celebrated today. It was interesting to see how history, folklore, and daily life continue to influence each other.

Personally, this trip also helped me grow more confident and independent. Since it was my first time traveling internationally, it pushed me to adapt to new environments and experiences. By the end of the trip, I felt more comfortable navigating new places and interacting with a different culture. I’m leaving with meaningful memories, a better understanding of Ireland, and a stronger desire to continue traveling and learning from other cultures in the future.
